A Few of Carlos’ Favorites
Maybe you didn’t know Carlos as a gamer or maybe you’re looking for a different way to remember him… either way, here are some of Carlos’ favorite drinks, TV shows, hobbies, and books. Pour yourself a drink and enjoy one of his favorite things in his memory.
Drinks
Carlos was a whiskey drinker. Our favorite whiskey to enjoy together was Balvenie Double Wood but recently he had started learning the art of cocktail making. His favorite was naturally an old fashioned. Here’s the recipe he used:
Ingredients 1 sugar cube (or 1 bar spoon simple syrup)
2 dashes Angostura bitter
2 ounces rye or bourbon
Orange twist
PREPARATIONMuddle the sugar cube and bitters with one bar spoon of water at the bottom of a chilled rocks glass. (If using simple syrup, combine bitters and one bar spoon of syrup.) Add rye or bourbon. Stir.
Add one large ice cube, or three or four smaller cubes. Stir until chilled and properly diluted, about 30 seconds. Slip orange twist on the side of the cube.

Carlos loved movies and we spent a lot of time watching movies — any action movie will do but here are the movies that were always on Carlos’ binge watch rotation:

Books
Space, fantasy, and wit were favorite themes in Carlos’ library. He also read a lot of coding and programming specific books but that’s a list for a another time. Here were his favorite books to read and revisit:

We watched a lot of TV and while Carlos didn’t appreciate my love for trashy reality TV he did love to binge watch shows. He watched many of these on repeat but loved shows that he could watch over and over and find something new every time.
